Our Story

A small cafe with a long memory.

Founded in Stockholm in 2017, Zelexto Nordic is a single-room cafe built around three things: good coffee, honest bread, and quiet conversation.

01 Chapter One

It started with a single oven.

In the autumn of 2017 a baker and a barista opened a small room on Strandvägen — a single deck oven, a vintage La Marzocco, and a long oak bench salvaged from an old library. The plan was simple: make the kind of cafe we wished existed two doors down from where we lived.

Eight years on, the bench is still there. We added a roaster, a pastry kitchen, and a few more chairs — but the discipline hasn’t changed. Every blend is built around a single tasting note. Every loaf rests for thirty-six hours before baking. Every regular is greeted by name.

Zelexto Nordic is what happens when restraint meets warmth. We don’t serve sixty drinks. We serve twenty-five, and we serve them well.

02 Philosophy

Make less. Make it well.

We believe the room is part of the cup. Pale oak, linen cloths, low music, and the kind of natural light that flatters everyone. Nothing on the menu is decorative — every seed, every grain, every layer of butter is on the plate because it earns its place.

Our team trains for a year before the espresso bar. Our pastries are baked twice daily and never the day before. If we wouldn’t serve it to our family, we won’t serve it to you.

03 The Team

Meet our head baker, Astrid.

Astrid trained in Copenhagen, ran the pastry kitchen at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Oslo, and joined Zelexto in 2019. She runs the morning bake — sourdough at 04:00, viennoiserie at 05:30, cinnamon rolls always before opening.

Ask her about the cardamom bun. The look she gets is the reason this place exists.
